Since 2005, any school which receives federal funding has been mandated to observe September 17th as Constitution Day. On that date in 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia signed the Constitution.
Traditionally, Civics First sponsors an art contest for grades K-3 and three different, grade appropriate essay contests for students grade 4 – 12. All of the contests focus on various aspects of the Constitution as they apply to the students’ lives.
Civics First is proud to provide an essay contest for grades K-12 to advance to objectives of Constitution Day. Topics and Program Details are posted in September, check back then for this year's competition.
