“Although there are many, my favorite part of the We the People program is how it allowed me to become an informed, respectful citizen. St. Thomas Aquinas once said: “We must love them both, those whose opinions we share and those whose opinions we reject, for both have labored in the search for truth, and both have helped us in finding it.” This semester has not just been a search for random constitutional facts, but rather an exploration of acceptance and understanding of others. In a world that is so sharply divided, We the People is preparing young adults for professional interactions that strike a balance of passion and respect. Being able to kindly disagree is quickly falling out of fashion, and I am happy to know that I will be graduating high school with the power to be heard with dignity.”
